Cosplay Crisis
A downloadable game
"Cosplay Crisis is one of the most unique takes on a Final Fantasy fan game out there...The game takes that premise and asks a lot of interesting questions about identity, fandom, and self-worth. It takes a lot of twists and turns you wouldn’t find in an official Final Fantasy game, but stays true to the source material."
- TheGamer, 10 Best Final Fantasy Fangames (#10th)
"Cosplay Crisis, a game with a storyline so wacky It’s surprising I managed to summarize it....it includes several creative set pieces that’ll keep things interesting throughout the campaign."
-FandomSpot, 15 Best Final Fantasy Fan Games and Rom Hacks worth playing (#12th)
A seemingly normal life. An average existence. That's all Kumo Atsureki has ever strived for, as the sole guardian of his younger brother at 19. Working as a hired gun with a young man named Levi Raionomoi, his long-time best friend, they work towards a future where they can do what they like rather than working for the highest bidder.
That's about to all come crashing down when their childhood friend Miri Joumaeshin, co-leader of the rebel movement LANDSLIDE, asks them to aid in bombing a Okam Reactor as a favour, something they can't say no to.
Oh, and a casual trip to Tokyo for a...cosplay convention, of course.
What started as something simple will become not only a fight for his life, but his very identity and right to exist as a two-decade long conspiracy unravels around them.
Originally completed in 2012 and then revamped in 2022 with altered dialogue and more refined programming, Cosplay Crisis is a complete RPG paying homage to the PS1 era of Final Fantasy.
Features:
- 7 Playable characters (1 secret), all based on characters from the PS1 era of Final Fantasy
- Fully realised ATB and Materia system, harkening back to FF7 with a few new surprises as well
- 10 hour, full length storyline melding comedic and meta commentary with a cohesive plotline
- Multiple side-quest and extra areas to explore
- Innumerable cameos, some expected, and some absolutely not
- A zombie apocalypse?
NOTE: this game uses primarily Final Fantasy remixes. If you would like to stream it, I would advise muting the VOD game audio. Some of the original OSTs are used and these are noted within the download.
